Get To Know Me
Welcome to Smudge!! I am the owner and operator of Smudge Makeup and want to thank you for taking the time to visit my page and see what we are all about. I look forward to hearing from all of you! Here is a little about me and how the business came about:
As a young girl, about four years old, is when I first discovered makeup. I would dive into my grandmother's makeup drawers and create "masterpieces" on everyone and everything. As I grew older, I went through the awkward phases of way too much blue eye shadow and heavy black eyeliner, like every teenager. As an adult I started to play around with it some more and it was actually at a Mary Kay party that I realized that I had potential to create amazing work. I was working odd end jobs and really wasn't happy with where I was at. I have a young daughter that I wanted to make proud, so I decided that it was time for a career change. I needed to find something that I enjoy, and I wanted work to be something I look forward to going to. In that moment I decided, on the spot, that I was going to pursue a makeup career. Within a few weeks I attended Marinello Schools of Beauty in Niantic, Connecticut where I was trained in skincare, waxing, and makeup by the best teachers anyone could ask for. I spent my hours there practicing my makeup skills on my classmates and clients. When I graduated I was offered an opportunity to work with a Connecticut makeup artist, and I jumped on it in a heart beat. My entire career took off.
In fall of 2015 I joined as a makeup artist on the That Girl...team, owned by Kelly Hart. Through this business I gained more knowledge of the industry, learned from the best, and had some amazing opportunities. I had been published in several magazines; Gladys Magazine, Tied in a Bow Magazine, The Wedding Day Sourcebook, Love Inc. Magazine. to name a few. My work was also aired on NBC CT and Better CT. I even got to work on a few films while on the That Girl...team; House Rules, Loud, and Christmas All Over Again. Thanks to Kelly I gained confidence in my field. Although working as the lead makeup artist on the team was great, I had a greater vision that I desired to fulfill.
In my native culture smudging is a ceremony that is done in order to purify the body, aura, energy, and space. I have the same concept with my clients. My clients will always leave feeling refreshed and confident. Smudge is all about making women feel beautiful and confident in their own skin. It is very important to me that my clients know how beautiful they are without the makeup and that I am simply enhancing their features, not changing them.
We look forward to hearing from you!
